The vineyard where the Avgoustiatis variety is cultivated, spreads from the army camp to the area of Megali Lakka, Konteika. Avgoustiatis is a variety of red grapes that belongs to a rare group of Greek grapes cultivated in Samos by only a few wine producers on a limited scale; however, it bore impressive results. It produces wines with a deep, vibrant, dark red colour and intense aromas of mature red fruits and herbs.
