Old Tavernes, Agios Konstantinos

SW_ROU~3

Visitors will find the enormous abandoned buildings that were once used as centres for storing and trading Samos wine (tavernes), as well as stone collection tanks that were “taken” by the sea. These tavernes were built in Kampos Vourlioton and the coastal zone of Agios Konstantinos, so that the sea breeze ensured better wine preserving conditions. The grapes and wine were gathered there as the farmers transported them on mules via the old trails. One old trail that is in good condition to this day, led from the Margarites and Valeontades hamlets to the tavernes of Agios Konstantinos and the tavernes  of Kampos Vourlioton.

These old wine warehouses were still in use in the early post-war years, and then fell out of use and were subsequently abandoned.
