Before entering Ydroussa village, heading south on a narrow dirt road towards the area locals call Katsouli, visitors will arrive at an area full of vineyards. There, besides the emblematic rugged landscape of Mt Ampelos, one can admire the muscat grape vineyard of one of the youngest vine-growers on Samos, Manolis Evgenikos. The vineyard grows the finest muscat grape and is cultivated by hand. It is located at an altitude of 220 metres.

From the Agii Theodori intersection heading to Marathokampos, as visitors proceed they will find muscat grape vineyards in well maintained dry stone terraces all along the left hand side of the road.

Agii Theodori is one of the smallest villages on Samos, built on a ravine, surrounded by vineyards, gardens, and a wooded areas.

The area of Konteika has many old and new vineyards, as the terrain and microclimate of the area favour vine-growing. Visitors can also see vineyards on dry wall terraces with low gobelet training, as well as linear vineyards. The view is panoramic and beautiful.

The vineyard where the Avgoustiatis variety is cultivated, spreads from the army camp to the area of Megali Lakka, Konteika. Avgoustiatis is a variety of red grapes that belongs to a rare group of Greek grapes cultivated in Samos by only a few wine producers on a limited scale; however, it bore impressive results. It produces wines with a deep, vibrant, dark red colour and intense aromas of mature red fruits and herbs.

At the entrance of Platanos, to the right of the parking area, visitors will find the abandoned stafylodochos. This raised tank received a large volume of the region’s muscat grape production until the early 90s.
